- Nasscom acts as a single point reference for any information related to the Indian IT industry.
- Nasscom provides information and useful contacts for software exports including opportunities for business networking.
- Nasscom informs its members about the changes in policies of the Government of India with regard to IT software and services.
- Nasscom creates an extensive database on the Indian and global software industry.

- Nasscom provides information on the Indian domestic market. It has successfully launched the Domestic TradeNet, wherein tender inquiries on computers and related products are compiled and sent to members.

- Nasscom acts as a lobby group for the Indian software industry and facilitates changes in government policy for the benefit of the industry.
- Nasscom provides information on Copyright Law, the Income Tax Act, Exim Policy, etc., which are related to the software industry.
- Nasscom provides information on the availability of infrastructure to establish and operate a software unit in India.
Membership Strength
As of 31st March 2001, more than 850 infotech companies in India were members of Nasscom. The combined revenue of Nasscom member companies constitutes almost 95 percent of the revenue of the IT software and services industry in India. The membership profile ranges from privately-owned companies to public sector companies. Membership includes domestic software companies as well as multinationals operating in India.
The wide range of member companies gives Nasscom the strength and diversity to represent the industry with authority.
